The kitchen at Thomas Hardy House features a double sided island style suite configuration with a service distribution unit running between the two sides. Because we were not able to vent to atmosphere, the extract system that we designed and installed for this site features a recirculation unit housing G4, F7, and HEPA filters, as well as carbon filtration, to “scrub” fats, oils, grease, smoke and odours from the air.
At the heart of the extraction is a constant velocity system which ensures that the fan speed increases to offset the fact that the filters will get clogged up over time. This enables the system to continue running efficiently. When the fan speed required to maintain this level of efficiency reaches a certain point, but well before the situation becomes critical, the user will get a notification to let them know that the filters need to be changed or cleaned.
